I take away several things from Yona. That being a photographer isn’t a profession in the usual sense: it doesn’t end with retirement, it can continue, or even begin again at any moment. That discretion can be the most powerful tool there is. And that her post-processing work, that mix of photography, design, and painting , deserves to be studied in depth. There’s a lot to learn there.
And every day I’m more convinced that post-processing is a very, very important part of photography.
It’s been an honor to have her here.
Yona doesn’t seek the spotlight. Her Instagram, like her, is discreet and consistent — an archive of warm interiors, golden light, and moments almost no one else would notice, if it weren’t for her. It’s worth visiting slowly, image by image.
You can find her on Instagram at @yona.elig.
Thank you, Yona, for reminding us that observing well is already a form of art.
